Statement of Mission and Intentions for Binkley Baptist Church

The community of the Olin T. Binkley Memorial Baptist Church gathers to worship and praise the living God, to care for one another, and to be a witness to the grace and love of Jesus the Christ that all may come to know God as their Creator and Sustainer in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

In our pilgrimage together we commit to:

Express our faithfulness to Christ in the love and worship of God and in love for one another;

Proclaim God's Word in creative and participatory worship, liturgy, prayer, and music;

Accept as members all persons who profess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior;

Nurture a diverse and inclusive fellowship that respects and balances the variety of social and faith perspectives held by the Binkley Church family;

Provide Christian education for all ages, especially children, emphasizing historic Christian tradition, spirituality, wholeness, and growth in understanding of the Holy Bible;

Support mission and outreach through Binkley Church ministries and the endeavors of individuals that witness to the love of God by supporting peace, non violence, social and economic justice, care for the earth, and human welfare;

Share responsibility for the life and health of Binkley Church and its members;

Build and enhance community within the Church fellowship;

Maintain active and fruitful links to broad Baptist and ecumenical fellowships, both local and worldwide;

Affirm the priesthood of all believers;

Follow the historic Baptist tradition in which every member has a voice in significant decisions and all opinions are respectfully considered; and

Teach and nurture in all an awareness of the spiritual presence of God within each individual as fostered through meditation and the contemplative life.
