Stephanie Ford, Minister of Christian Formation
Stephanie Ford, ordained with an endorsement by the Alliance of Baptists, came to Binkley in September 2011. She found in Binkley a vision for spiritual nurture, social justice, and community spirit that is both inspiring and challenging.
Stephanie received her B.A. in Elementary Education from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She also has an M.A. in Education from ORU and an M.A. in English from Oklahoma State University. Additionally Stephanie holds a Master of Divinity Degree from The Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, Virginia. She served as Steely Intern for Spiritual Life at Pullen Memorial Baptist Church in Raleigh, and also completed a certificate in spiritual direction.
In 2003, Stephanie earned a Ph.D. in Spirituality from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and she is passionate about sharing the spiritual wealth of the Christian tradition with others: prayer, mystics of the Church, spiritual practices, and discernment. Because of her interest in furthering ecumenical conversations around spirituality, she also teaches in the Friends of Christ School in Chapel Hill, an ecumenical spiritual formation program.
Stephanie has been a college instructor in English, as well as in English as a Second Language and in religion. She also served for 10 years as Associate Professor of Christian Spirituality at the Earlham School of Religion in Richmond, Indiana.
Stephanie enjoys children, and loves spending time with her daughter, Deepmala; together they enjoy their puppy, Ana, and Binkley activities! Her other pastimes include reading, travel, writing....and thrift-store shopping!
