DESCRIPTION:Join us for this new\, popular offering. \nMusic artist Collee
 n McMillian will lead us in a 90-minute meditative experience Saturday\, S
eptember 26th at noon.\n$15 suggested donation\nPlease bring a yoga mat or
  blanket. \nCheck out Colleen's work: https://soundheals.love/\nWhat is a
sound bath?\nA sound bath is an immersive sonic experience\, most often a
ccompanied by acoustic instruments\, light percussion and singing\, and ot
her ambient sounds. Attendees usually either sit or lie down\, close their
eyes\, and allow their thoughts to slow down as the sound of the instrume
nts helps to create a gentle\, meditative space for the mind to explore. A
ttendees sometimes report feeling as if they are in a dreamlike state\, an
d some even begin to enter the dreaming world while still maintaining a le
vel of present-moment consciousness.\nPhysiologically\, the sound of the i
nstruments promotes a physical and mental state where the sympathetic nerv
ous system (responsible for stress responses and defense\, a.k.a. "fight-o
r-flight") can relax and let the parasympathetic nervous system (responsib
le for relaxation\, resting states\, digestion and repair to tissues and o
 rgans\, a.k.a. "rest-and-digest") take over. Small\, initial scientific st
udies of sound healing have shown a reduction in stress hormones\, chronic
pain\, and anxious thoughts and feelings.
