Interim Minister

Full-time
Binkley Baptist Church – Chapel Hill, NC

The Olin T. Binkley Memorial Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, N.C., seeks a full-time Interim Minister following the retirement of the Senior Minister. The Interim Minister will provide leadership for our mission of building a compassionate and joyful community, freely exploring spiritual paths, and pursuing justice and peace in the way of Jesus. We live into this mission as we gather for worship that nurtures and inspires, explore contemplative practices, grow with our children and youth in an uplifting program of ministry, challenge our community to value the lives of those more vulnerable, march together for social justice (for example, Pride events and Crop Walk), offer adults opportunities to learn and celebrate all life stages, and present an engaging music program in regular services plus open community events.

The Interim Minister will share in collaborative leadership, compassionate pastoral care, and creative worship that includes biblical preaching, progressive and inclusive theology, and motivates actively following Jesus. The Interim Minister will prepare the congregation structurally and spiritually to welcome a new settled clergy leadership. This position will begin as soon as is reasonable, and the Interim Minister will be in place for an anticipated 9-18 month period.
